About (around, touching on, give or take a few)I'm a San Francisco based writer and teacher.
I grew up in small towns in Oregon, got a BA in Theatre from Willamette University, then moved to San Francisco in 1983. I temped in downtown offices, worked at The Record Factory, waited tables, then designed databases. Along the way I acted at Theatre Rhinoceros, The Magic and The Eureka, was a founding member of the Z Collective, started writing, then got my MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. I live in the sunny Mission district and teach at Santa Clara University. |

Here's a video interview, with some thoughts about writing and teaching. It's from a great site called WriterBuilds designed and run by some fabulous former SFSU students.
Some more thoughts from an interview by, another wonderful SFSU student, Michael Shufro. This appeared in SFSU's Transfer Magazine. |
